December Cook’s Library Column in Kansas Country Living about the death of a loved one

In December I shared about losing my beloved sister-in-law, Mary Ann, to cancer. It will be a long time before my family feels normal again, and of course we’ll have to find a “new normal.”

She and my brother were married for 56 years – they married and had children before I was even born. She has been part of my life from day one, and always a second mom to me, so it will be an adjustment for all of us.

Just as my mom had a specialty of making divinity, Mary Ann’s specialty was chocolate pie. I may have to start making it regularly, too.

On my personal blog I wrote an additional story about visiting her grave a few days afterwards, and how I found an angel in boots there. You can read that by going to http://patsysponderings.com/2013/11/angels-wear-boots/.
